Auto. to Manual Swap Complete
Hello All,
Over the weekend I finished up my Automatic to 5 speed swap. With my Dad's help (and his lift) it took about 3 days. We probably could've done it a bit faster, but took our time and enjoyed the quality time together.
I want to thank Kevin Landers for his write up and answering every question that I emailed to him. Also, Mark Mildice for one question I had for him.
If anybody out there is considering this, I strongly recommend it. It's a completely different car now and I have trouble wiping the smile off my face when I drive it.
Although I am not a mechanic by any means, if I can answer any questions from my experience, please let me know.
Craig

Better than my 6 months, lol. Kevin was an awesome help for me too-- he even was able to source a flywheel after I had two non-engine matching flywheels (per incompetent sellers that didn't know what they were *really* selling). Anyhow, yeah. Kevin is awesome!

Getting the flywheel off of the donor car was the hardest part of the job (although the pedal swap wasn't much fun).
When the flywheel finally came off, it went flying into my arm (leaving a pretty big gash) then slammed into the floor taking a chunk of the concrete with it.
The rear counter-weight was tough to get off the automatic also.

Yeah, the counterweight went flying when I used a puller. Was some scary **** seeing that heavy *** iron flying through the air... it made it about 15 feet behind the car on the driveway, lol... Would have decapitated me if I had decided to stay under the car with the puller as oposed to using a big *** pipe for leverage
