Auto box-lockup solenoid-AAAARRRGGG
The car is a Japspec 1990 build FC3C with a 4 speed+ lockup/overdrive Jatco auto box, the box works fine with the exception of premature lockup activation, this is not a fault, its only doing what it's programed to do and altering the ECU/controler is way beyond my capabilitys any technology that I have access to, including all the much lorded "tuners"who charge $Aus180 per hour , couldn't tune a piano and run for the hills the minute a real problem rears its head.
I need to --raise the activation point for the lockup---OR ---run the lockup to a manual switching system (overdrive) without altering the shift values for the rest of the box.
the box has 3 modes 1/----D= 1-2-3-4--lockup/overdrive
2/---S= 1-2-3
3/---HOLD=returns to 3rd gear and keeps it there
The box is fully electronic.
Please can anyone help me with this problem-IT'S DRIVIN ME NUTS- Aaaaaah I feel better for that,
Cheers, Al .

reprogramming the lockup output likely would be a complete pita and near impossible unless you have access to the right equipment.
you could wire up a lockup switch which just cuts out the solenoid itself until you want the lockup to turn on. all you should need to do is splice into one of the wires to the solenoid to a switch and back to the solenoid to complete the circuit, the solenoid itself is located right down next to the starter pointing towards the top of the vehicle.
i doubt you will find much assistance on the auto boxes, no one really deals with them as they were originally rare and even more rare now that most people have ditched them for manual boxes, sorry.

Hi Karack,
thanks for the reply, I have no problem wireing the lockup solenoid to a manual isolator switch but I fear that that may be the easy bit , the activation point is 38 MPH at which point ---locker on---and I am wondering if the circiut completion is denied at this time will a fault code be generated resulting in a limp home mode being instigated by the ECU--or some other undesireable consequence/s result?
Again thank you for your help,
Cheers , Al .
