take the old speaker off the plate and cut with a jigsaw out to where the old screw holes are (the end up almost the right size to fit perfect, you can proble do a little smaller) then just either use self tapping screws or drill holes.

After I did that I had a problem where the plate on my passenger side rattled... I couldn't get it flush so I cut an old sweatshirt and glued it to the stand & screwed it back down ... actually speakers sound a little better with the cushion.

i bought some fairly cheap pioneer from best buy. had a plastic harness kit that came close enough to fitting to work. once you pop the top off the bins if it has the stock speakers you're going to lyao at the leetness lol.

for the back having the extra treble booster thing on the pioneers i got was a little tooo much high end bouncing off the hatch. but the same speakers were fine in the door wells although also difficult to install, i believe i had to drill holes for those. i got 4x 6" pioneers the expensive ones w/ add-on treble piece. and an aftermarket deck that can only power 4 speakers so i couldnt mount two smaller ones in the front but the front had some kind of cracked out sized speaker anyway and i couldnt get a kit to fit those.

best actual 'sub' or large woofer install in a hatchback i have seen was one where they cut out under the cargo compartment and did a 'floor' install under the hatchback.

and best buy guys had no idea where the built-in amp in the car was or how to hook into it if its even possible.

i would have done it myself but it was free and the deck wiring install is too many wires for me to count on my fingers hahah

so-mars, the front (indash) speakers are spliced off the wires for the rear... at leaste in mine they are. So if you hook speakers to them they should work without any extra wiring done.

They do show it all, it was really confusing to me.... took me about 3 days of going over everything to figure it out. Personally, no offense if anyone works at bestbuy, I think they are the biggest morons I have ever met. I'm a computer person so electrical isn't my strongest suit but if it's not strait forward they think it doesn't work.

For your amp (going by what it says you have 89 non turbo) it's probly in the same spot as mine was. Oped the dash speaker spot on the drivers side and there is a metal box with Pioneer on it, thats the door amp. I didn't have any others in my car so I don't know. Though my front speakers had a small connector with barely any length to it hanging down.

Page 11 tells you what pages to goto for whatever audio wiring you looking into.

This tells you wire colors, power antenna relay, amp locations.

yeh i'll check that out thnx

the best buy thing i didnt want to burn out anything because i could just barely afford the deck... and it was free. i think the ******* idiot installed the power antennae cable in reverse so he thought something was wrong and put some kind of antennae relay on it that hooked into the battery wrong or something so it faintly lit up my entire idiot light panel. havent had the chance to get back there to see wtf he did yet because i dont want to **** up electrical stuff w/ no experience when i have no cash. but i think my alternator regulater falling out burnt my aftermarket radio out anyway now lol. so nothing to lose :p plus i finally have a multimeter so i can see if i can electrocute myself now
