I don't know why people bother, unless they want to show off or get their cars get broken into.&nbsp The stock tach is more than adequate, unless you're spinning over the redline?

Isn't the stock tach 4 - 4.5 inches? I think it's 4.5. I'd go measure, but it's raining outside right now.

Edit - Figures my above comment is useless now, supposedly his stock tach doesn't work!

Yo,

Sorry man, some of us here are smartasses. Usually I've seem them mounted on the left side of the instrument binacle.

Check this link:

That's Seth's TII. You can see how he did it...

Good luck!

When you get it installed, let me know where you put it. I am buying a MD chip that will raise my redline to 9100 RPM, so I will need to get a new tach for autocrossing! Thanks man!

Why not just recalibrate the stock tach to work with the V8? Complete instructions (including how to wire the stock gauges up to the engine) can be found at www.grannysspeedshop.com

LOL, it may raise the fuel cut off point. but your redline stays the same... and no rotary should go over 8500 unless built for it.

There's a picture floating around of my dash. I just mounted a new "taco" and speedo in place of the old cluster. I used Autometer Ultra-lite gauges and an AL sheet to mount them.

If somebody would post them, I will email them. I know, I s*ck at the internet!

No it doesn't... it stops around 8200... I know this for a fact, I used to shift at 8400. (That's when my rev limiter would cut in - when the car jerks back, shift!) And 3mm seal engines tend to blow over 8500 unless you have carbon seals... i overrevved mine, the next day an apex seal blew. Took the engine apart, all of the apex seal springs are hammered flat. I only went over 8500 for a couple seconds.... so 9500 MY ***.

My friend said he wanted one of those huge 10,000 rpm tacks with shift lite in his miata...lolololol.... I said that would be the stupidest thing ever because u only shift at 7,000rpms anyway... He said he wanted it for the shift light. ohhhhhh. That explains it.lolololololol. U can just buy a light without the tack. dumb ***.

here ya go, since everyone is being a smart *** about it! i like mine for the fact it records the race so i can tell a whole bunch of things about how the car is acting and has 4 seperae shift points and a burnout setting. but be warned if you have this shift lite keep it on low!
