Question Atkins Rebuild Kit

Have any of you guys used Atkins Rotary rebuild kit with the 2 piece apex seals and solid corner seals? If so, how are they holding up? Or did they let you down? I’m about to by parts for my rebuild and ran across Atkins rebuild kit and was thinking that was a good price for what you get out of the kit. Rebuild kit with Gasket kit $550.00 not to bad!

Atkins have very good service. I bought a rebuld kit from them and was very fast. I usually talk to Kathy if I need a part. Once she sent the wrong part and had the right part FEDEX to me.

550 is very good for a full rebuild kit. I bet it doesn't include everything to rebuild the rotors though(save bearings) I wouldn't think that you would need all of that stuff for a rebuild anyways. The most important things in a KIT are the soft seals, the apex seals, and the corner seals. ALL of the parts need to be in spec, but of the things that are normally included in the kit I would say those are the most likely to be out of spec.

Screw Mazdatrix. They're a bunch of asses.
I called them once a long time ago and haven't bought anything from them since.

When I shopped around, Atkins had the best prices on rebuild kits. Now it's a little higher at $485 (87-88 TII) $540 (89-92 TII) is still a hell of a deal for a "re-seal kit". Of course prices go up when you add oil control rings and apex seals but if everything is within tolerance, all you need is a re-seal kit.

I get all my rebuild parts from atkins...they offer great customer service and good pricing...I highly recommend them.

They hold up well in engines...as well as anything else on the market, IMO. In most cases, it isnt about what brand of parts go into the engine, or even who puts it all together...it's about what goes on the outside of the engine, and who the operator is that makes the difference.

I have to disagree! I called them with questions on a less than $1.00 part. i spent 20 minutes on the phone with them. They gladly helped me.

Additionally, I receive my parts in a few days EVERY time! I place an order on the internet on Monday afternoon, I can expect it Wed or Thu the latest via cheapo delivery.

I agree with Kevin, I have had nothing but solid service from ATkins. I purchased my rebuild kit from them, along with numerous other things along the way. I would reccomend them to anyone.

the one time I did talk to atkins was when I bought the rebuild video. The lady I talked to was exceptionally nice.

I like Mazdatrix...And I always get my parts, the right ones, on time eveytime so far.

But I've already spent close 400.00 now for my project and I am not receiving close to what atkins would have provided.

Going to have to scratch mazdatrix. Going with Atkins from now on cause I got an s4 that needs rebuilding now too. This one will be my spare motor. I think the only way to go with rotaries is to have one rebuilt the minute you get your rx. And another motor waiting in the wings for when you kill it.

Oh, another plus for atkins, they are running some pretty good deals on ebay. They'll compile a few orders into one order to save quite a bit on shipping, making it a really good deal. If... you need the parts they are selling. Usually one of the videos-- clutch hydralics and reseals

I think.

I did goto their webpage last week, it looks like they are trying to update it. Awesome customer service, but Ithink they do need to brush up on their webpage design.

then again, I'd rather they have rotaries mastered then the webstore.

EDIT:infact its probably easier to place the order via phone, their limited number of parts making getting the right part pretty easy. they list part numbers too i think though.

Well, I called Atkins today to price everything I need and I jumped the price up quite a bit!

Atkins Rebuild Kit $495.00 includes: Apex Seals (2mm Atkins Design 2 Piece), Apex Springs (Both Inner & Outer), Side Seal Springs, 2mm Solid type Corner Seals, Corner Seal Springs, Inner & Outer Oil Control O Rings, Atkins Thermal Pellet, Front Main Seal, Rear Main Seal & Pilot Bearing & Seal. Also, I will need a Gasket Set costing $160.00. Then there were a few things I wanted to add like Side Seals, Stationary Gear Bearings, Rotor Bearings and Oil Ring Springs. Add it all together and it came up to around $857.95.

Racing Beat Rebuild Kit includes (MAZDA OEM components): Apex seals and springs, side seals and springs, corner seals and springs, complete rotor oil seals with O-rings and springs, front and rear main seals, and complete gasket and O-ring set. Equaling the grand total of $995.00.

Mazda Trix Rebuild Kit $973.96 includes: Apex Seals, Apex Seal Springs, Corner Seals, Corner Seal Springs, Corner Seal Rubber Inserts (where applicable), Oil Control Rings, Oil Control Ring "O-Ring, Oil Control Ring Springs, Side Seals and Side Seal Springs. Then you will still need a Gasket Set costing $165.92. Add that all together equaling $1,139.88.

Atkins came in first for being the cheapest! That’s who will be getting my business! The other price that I quoted on an earlier post was Atkins Rebuild Kit on EBay with the reserve set at $440.00 and the Gasket Set with the reserve set at $110.00 equaling $550.00. The prices that I listed above are from their shop that’s why it cost a little more. They sell them a little cheaper on EBay but that is reserve prices and it’s not to say that you would win it at that price if you were in a battle bidding with somebody.

try rotaryaviation.com. they've just come out with a new 2 piece 2mm apex seal that's really good if not better than atkins. their prices are probably a little better than atkins too. but right now there is a wait for apex seals since everybody and there brother is getting seals from them right now. $173 shipped for apex seals plus they give you new apex seal springs as for atkins that costs extra. so i would say find your solid corner seals somewhere and buy the rest of it from rotaryaviation.com. they also have rebuild kits or you can get everything separate. the oring kit (all soft seals) is $157 shipped. oh and something they do that atkins doesn't, they match the each corner piece to each apex seal so everything is perfectly matched. just got mine today and each seal and corner piece has a number on it to match them up. atkins just mixes up their corner pieces and apex seals so nothing is matched. may not be of interest to you, but i thought it was really cool that they go through the trouble to do something like that.

another good thing about RWS. they accept paypal. if you wanna get apex seals you can go ahead and pay for them now and they will ship them to you when they get them. it took me 10 days to get mine. not a long wait considering i've been waiting over 1 month to get my s5 t2 engine from spd racing.
