Id always say do a compression test before or do you have a 3800 rpm hesitation? just make sure it may not be noticable but it can make it seem like your car is not as fast as it should be but def comp test and then decide if atf is for you its not bad at all just makes the biggest cloud of smoke youve ever seen for 3 minutes

ATF will never hurt anyting except a) your stock cats, if still equipped, or b) small animals and children that might be present when you restart the car.

You cannot put in too much, and it is not damaging to anything internally., ATF acts as a cleaning agent as well as a momentary lubricant. IT will also foul the hell out of your plugs, so keep a spare set for when youre done. Expect smoke for about 30 minutes.

I dont beleive in ATF trick all that much.

I have a set of carbon caked rotors that I tried letting soak in ATF.

Didn't even put a dent in the carbon deposits :O

I think alot of the causes of ATF "fixing" and engine would be in my opinion related to OMP failures.

SE...are we the only ones replying to threads on here?

Sure, atf wont do jack for crbon caked faces. but it will penetrate, lubricate, and maybe clean the slots for teh seals just a bit, enough to help them move freely adn build more compression again.

In reality though, atf is just a thin substance to build compression and overcome any puddled gas int eh chambers to unflood a rotary. Plus, if a rotary sits long enugh, even if no fuel is puddled/flooded, the coating of oil on the housings goes away, so the atf can replenish that enough to get the car running again as well. Motor oil will do the same thing, except it'll be thicker adn wont penetrate as easily.

I have heard good things about MMO as a substitute. I would lean towards that because it is designed to burn and clean.
