ATF, or best fluid for manual tranny??

ok...you win...i agree that there are trannies that use a partial submersion atf bath. however, this doesnt mean it will work for us. I certainly wont be doing it in my car... ATF is too thin. in a tranny designed for it, it may work fine, but in an old tranny from an fc, i doubt that it will lubricate well. it will probably feel nicer, but the tranny wont last too long. thicker fluids stay cooler and lubricate better. also, another question..does the ford tranny u pictured have an oil cooler?

that pic was out of a 2003 ranger manual
no cooler on those. I did some talking with the guys at work about this and the biggest concern we came up with were the synchro blocking rings being made of different materials. I dont see any reason why the bearings would not work though.
from this I have decided not to go this route after all and go with something else instead. cant afford to rebuild trans if it broke.
