I don't think it's worth the extra $300 bucks unless you're a JDM freak. I'm sure it's a nice intake, AutoExe makes top-notch parts, but you're paying for the name more than anything, IMO.

I personally do not have either but I have seen the Apexi intake and what can you say...its an intake....whoop dee ****

If there is that much of a price difference buy the cheaper one because the will be absolutely no measureable difference in power increase between the two............the only measureable difference (barely) will be going from the stock air box to a more free flowing intake - therefore - buy the cheaper one. (IMHO)

: Just make your own. And if it makes you feel better then put an Apex'i or HKS filter on it.

AutoEXE! They are really expensive, but worth the money.

No offense eagle, but I don't see how an intake is worth 300 more than an Apex'i unless its a true CAI. The one I have is even cheaper than the apexi and is basically identical. I remember seeing an article from some Japanese magazine where they dynoed a supra with stock then several aftermarket intakes. I believe they all netted about a 6 hp gain, but some filtered better than others. I know the HKS one filtered pretty badly and the K&N and Apexi did the best. Now admittedly the intake you are talking about wasn't tested there, but you can only get so much benefit from an intake.

The AutoEXE uses a K&N filter.

I've had the HKS mushroom filter since 98 and its been great for me. I've replaced the foam part once. Just get a filter adapter and you can drop any filter you want.

The site was down earlier so I couldn't look at the intake. Now that I see it, it looks like you could get cooler intake temps with that. I guess its up to you whether its worth it.

they only point of puting a cold air intake on your car is to get that cool sucking sound when on the throttle. your not going to feel any difference in power and 5 extra horsepower at whatever rpm is not going to make you beat a riced out civic. besides, you actually loose power when you put a cold air intake on at certain rpms, you do gain some at certain rpms tho dont get me wrong, but mazda like all other car companies design the intake system as all other systems of the car to work together to create the power. true tho, by putting on a cold air intake you will gain some hp, but probly not in an rpm area that is worth it. get what im saying? basically all you need to know is mazda is not going to just slap a crappy intake on there and call it a day. they design it to work. plain and simple. but the sucking and whistling sound of the cold air intakes i do like

I just couldn't see spending that kind of money on an intake for our cars when you could make one yourself that will work just as well for a fraction of the price.
