Apex'i Power Intake......Help

Ok so I just put this intake on my car. First thing i noticed when i was driving it was that I can no longer redline the car, even in first. It stops making power at about 7 grand and takes forever to get to 8. When i had the stock airbox on it would easily go to 8.5k. Anyone know why this is? It feels like its just not getting enough air. Also i dont think this would affect anything but when i was putting some silicone hoses on the car I broke two plastic peices off of some solenoids. This wouldnt affect it would it?

Its the solenoids that are right besides the alternator. One was tan i believe the other was green. I think they have to do with emmisions but im not sure. I dont think that they would have anything to do the problem Im having but im not sure.

Oh yeah I should also mention that his happened before when i put a different cone filter on. So I really dont know whats going on. I dont want to have wasted 160 bucks on something just to have to put the stock filter back on.

well on the 89-91 one of those is for the 6 ports, one for VDI, and 3 for emmissions. either of those not working would cause less air flow and less power.. the 86-88 probably has a 6 port one too.

apexi is the best intake made so dont blame it on that... if you did bust those plastic wheels it really doesnt do anything as long as you cover the hole you made but i would suggest to get it replaced

Yeah, it was pretty funny. Right before Matt (hybridracer) started to put on the new silicon hoses, he said, "Yeah, people on the forum were like 'yeah you'll break these no matter what". Then as he went to do the 2nd one, i hear this "snap", and then a breif second later a quick "oops" from Matt.

Just thought I'd shed some humor on this subject

Yeah, and you know, he might have some left over silenoids laying around he could hook you up with.

Yes, and don't forget about the custom exhaust pipe you'll need matt

Yeah thanks man. I ripped some solenoids of my 80 rx7 project car since I wont be needing them and they did the trick. Although it still feels like I lost some power around 8k but Ill look for some more things. Thanks for you help.

Instead of replacing the solenoid just wire them open with a zip tie and see if that cures your top end problems. if so then either leave the zip ties (like 90% of us N/A guys on here) or fix your solenoid.
