Apex Seals and You

Okay, so we've all seen the 'what is the best apex seal' threads... but I wanna put a twist on it... What would be the best apex seals to run high boost on? Like, way upgraded fuel system boost?
Still atkins rotary?
I'd also like to stay within a reasonable budget.

I think its more about tuning than the seals...

yeah but isn't the boost why turbos last fewer miles than NA?
OH YEAH PWNED :P

any time you have a higher output engine for a given displacement you will have more wear, all other variables staying the same. Actually, I'd think that a boosted engine that was making good power down low would last longer than a similar output n/a engine, seeing how wear goes up with orders of magnitude with RPM (which is where an n/a engine will make power, high RPM) but ONLY if the boosted motor is tuned properly

...i think people generally say that atkins seals are unbeatable for na cars but crap for turbo cars...
but those same seals will DIE when you put 20 lbs of boost on um...
I need seals that good for boosted motors, anyway.

He's saying if you're detonating or running too lean then the type of seal might matter more. But if you're well tuned any reliable brand should be fine. Atkin's would be good though.

yeah, i figured that LoL...
but atkins do stand up well to boost? if so, I just might get a rebuild kit from them... any other tips for making a high HP car?

Heat (entropy) is the killer of all engines, rotary, piston, jet, whatever. Boosting=heat. Heat=more wear between the contact surfaces. More wear=an engine that doesn't last as long as the next engine that, on average, ran cooler during its life

That sounded like a very complicated way to say upgrade your radiator dumbass :P
yeah, that's in my plan... but i mean engine internal wise...

Ceramic seals are suppose to be the best under boost. They seal well and won't break.

yeah but i don't have 420,000 dollars to plop down on apex's LoL...
but are any reasonably priced ones better than atkins?
and are there any other parts that need a-fixin (when I rebuild) internally for a car that makes, say, 400 horses at the wheels? (I know I won't get much past that LoL)

That's what I was talking about, man, the temperatures of combustion, where the seals are.

Wasn't speaking of overall engine block temps...

You need to talk to the high HP racers, and ask what works best for them...RP in Dallas, maybe Mazdatrix...Several others...

yeah but see, thats a problem for me because I'm very lazy :P
from what I've heard everything should be good... so long as I don't do something stupid...
just good apex seals and good driving, plus a dyno tuning sounds like all i should need.
if i'm wrong... please tell me LoL...

I use seals made out of wood. So when they burn up it smells like campfire and I know when to replace them.
