Smile Apex seal questions..

What are the specific differences between 1 piece apex seals and the traditional 2 piece ones? Wouldn the 1 piece seals work better/last longer? Which one would work better for turbo motors (probably with high compression NA rotors)?

Thanks guys!

Yes, one-piece will last longer.
The 2-piece seals better.

And the stock 3 piece unit seals better still.

I haven't personally tried this, but I understand that one piece seals aren't very good for a street car. They don't seal that well at low RPM, and you'll have really bad low RPM performance. They're find on a high RPM race engine, but for street use a two or three piece seal is best.

Ive never seen 3 piece seals.. and wouldnt there be issues when the seal passes over the exhaust port? i mean, the 3 piece seal, wouldnt it wear out rather quickly as only a small part of it will be in contact with the rotor housing as it passes over the exhaust port?

so a 1 piece seal would be ideal for a 13bt with NA rotors?

All 86-95 Mazda RX-7 came with three piece seals. Take your engine apart and look if you want to see three piece seals.
