TX Apex Seal Question / Compression?????

OK, I have an 88 Vert that seems to have "No compression" on the front rotor, however, doing a ghetto compression test (i.e. hand in front of hole feeling the "puffs") there is no noticable diffrence betwen the two rotors... My compression testing tool picked up 95+ psi per face on the rear rotor (before you start screaming thats bad, i charged the battery from DEAD to sorta charged for 4 hours on a trickle charger and suspect that it is still VERY WEAK...hence the low numbers...)

My question is this, could one of my apex seals be stuck and not making contact with the rotor housing therefore not building compression??? This motor has run 1 time while in my posession for about 35 seconds and was seemingly running on one rotor.

then it was SEVERLY flooded by my dumb butt by trying to crank it with a dead battery...

With that being said, I did manage to clear both rotor housings quite well while doing my compression testing.

Should I try to put some MMO or ATF in the housings via the trailing spark plug holes to try and re-lubricate / build compression and give that a try?

Has anyone had this problem / experience? Please give me any input you can muster, I need all I can get my hands on right now!!!! Thanks!

So you're getting no puffs at all on the front rotor?

It couldn't hurt to throw a little MMO in it and spin it back and forth by hand (socket on the main pulley or wrench on the alternator nut). I'm doing the same thing on my S5 TII motor. All but one of the faces is giving me a puff, while the other 5 are pretty strong by the sound of it.

If you feel the same pressure from both rotors then the compression tester should give a similar reading. What did it read on the front? I don't see what putting some oil in the housing would do for compression besides give you a false reading on your compression gauge. Thats usually done when the engine is locked. I don't see what you mean by "stuck", the seal or springs are either damaged/worn or not...you should compression check the front rotor.

TX Let me be more specific...

I used a brand new compression tester, held the air release valve in, and had my girlfriend turn the engine over with the key. The rear rotor gave me 95, 90, 95 psi even consistant bounces for about 4 cycles... (4 sets of 3 numbers)... (REAR ROTOR)

So, I moved on to the FRONT rotor, same compression tester, same process, yet NO READING...
SO, I removed the compression tester and had the GF turn the motor over and held my hands in front of the plug holes and FELT the puffs coming out, they seemed EVEN and strong, so I assumed that by some weird happenstance, the compression tester's valve got stuck or broke or whatever...

SO, I went BACK to the rear rotor, hooked the compression tester back up, and again got 95, 90, 95 on the REAR rotor...

(read above, but i will say again, the battery was WEAK when I was doing this testing, so the numbers will be a bit lower than normal due to not being spun at the proper RPM for testing... )

This is where I assumed that I had a "stuck" apex seal, (by stuck i mean, the apex seal i suspect is stuck INSIDE the rotor itself, as in the spring behind it will not push it outward towards the rotor housing, therefore, not giving me compression on 2 faces of the rotor....)

Does this seem logical and has this happened to anyone else???? Remember, the week before I actually managed to get the motor RUNNING for a duration of about 30 seconds, before it died, as soon as it came down to idle it would not hold idle and choked itself out....

Any help!??
