Apex seal question

When the seals do not spring up when pressed down from the exhaust side thats a problem with the springs right? I only have about two seals that i can push on and feal pop back alittle.

Are you doing this in the exhaust port?
Or are you doing this with the rotors out of the engine?

How about carbon and crud impeding movement of the apex seals?

Yea through the exhaust ports right now. I had cleaned the rotors off the last time i put it back together. But it seemed like the seals where harder to put it then usual.

Welll.... lemme tell you from experience.. unless you got EVERY LITTLE BIT of crud out of the grooves.. its likely to crud up again very quickly...

It seems that Crud is magnetic to crud in a rotary..

Years ago, i did a quickie job and didn't clean the grooves out all that well.. I had to tear the motor back apart in about 10K miles cause it lost compression.. Found the fault to be one stuck apex seal.. Probably the same on that I had trouble with during assembly...

I make damn sure EVERYTHING is out of ALL the grooves now!!

Yea i am going to just take it apart and port it as well. The soft seals should still be reusable after 10 miles shouldn't they? Also what kind of port would be good for a turboed n/a with Tii everything except the block?

Was it the RA apex seals that where messing up rotor housings or was that a different company? I didn't think the seals would be as cheap as the RA ones so i might end up getting those.
