I have a set of RA seals and I lost the corner piece to one of the seals. Can I replace it with a mazda one ? or can I replace it with a new new seal? The thing is that RA doesnt sell individual seals and I would hate to have to buy another set just for a corner piece.

I have a little corner piece if you need one. But you'll have to find out from somebody that knows something (unlike me who knows nothing) if you can use the corner piece I have. Its a stock Mazda OEM.......used.

Nope- you need a whole 'nother seal assy. Those corner pieces from the RA seals are each matched to their own individual seal.

You could damage the housings if you mix and match the seal pieces, because you could conceivably assemble a set that's too wide for the housings...

A good dial caliper with an accuracy of at least .001" will be your friend in this quest of yours

 

Yep! They have number stamps to go with each other to ensure proper fitment.

 

What if I get a another 2 piece seal? I know the have number stamps but damn I dont want to buy a whole new set.

 

Just buy an OEM 2-piece seal from Mazdatrix or somebody.

THEN, you can perform a comparison on seal wear between the RA and (your choice here) apex seals when you tear her down again

 

The problem with buying a corner piece meant for some other brand of seal is that you wont be sure if it's cut the exact same. Do what Wayne said and buy it and use a caliper to check the sizing between the two.

Or you can contact RA and ask them if you can buy a single apex seal/corner piece that is matched rather than a full set.

 

I already did and they dont get back till the 22nd. But does anyone sell a single apex seal??

 

I know Mazdatrix does, which means other vendors probably do as well. Somewhere around $60, IIRC...
