Is anything salvageable?

Attempting first rebuild, na S4, housing are obviously bad, and rotors are probably cooked too, before I waste my time measuring tolerances anything visible on the irons, or just start looking for another engine? Any help appreciated, thank you.

I am not sure to be sad because your engine could be trashed or happy because at least you can make some money on scrap from a gift.

I don't know much about housings but little more background on how the housing ended up in this condition would be helpful, in my opinion. Best wishes to you...

No idea what happened bought it as the second owner, never met the first owner my best guess is they used straight water for coolant and let it sit. It had 236000 miles on it though.

Give the parts a thorough cleaning and inspection before you write them off

I mean, yeah, it looks dirty and crusty but sometimes after some solid elbow grease and a ton of Berryman B12 youll find that its maybe not that bad.

but yeah if you take apart a crusty engine and snap a pic. its all gonna look like trash at first glance
