anyone use OBX manifold

I had a guy triing to sell me one, i can't find any feedback on it anywhere. I also haven't been able to find anyone that makes them for an FC, i have found them for the FD all day?

If you are using this manifold, will it hold with some bracing, or is it just too thin? It is the only stainless manifold i have found-

They don't make an FC3S application.

The FD version (divided) works in the FC if you use a custom exhaust housing for the turbo. The FC version is made by SS autochrome, and is a copy of the HKS log style, which uses a traditional exhaust housing (tangental) but doesnt flow nearly so well.

I am using the FD version plus an on center housing for my convertible.

Do a search for "master power turbo" and read the threads.

That manifold doesn't have a very good wastegate path design.

This is what I call a superior wastegate path design.

I have the OBX one... going on my RE though. Yeah, it's a cheap one, however, I hope to avoid problems by bracing the turbo over to the motor.

Not ideal design as mentioned, however, nice looking low buck manifold to get me started. I'll eventually outgrow it and need a better one, but have to start somewhere.

I never noticed that until you mentioned it!

This is hIGGI's set-up.
Garrett GT-3540
Custom turbo exhaust manifold
HKS GT 60mm wastegate

The exhaust gas shoots straight out, which gives it the best path exiting the engine.  The wastegate path and turbo path are Y'd about the same angle - this gives it the most efficient wastegate system.  Reference Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost" book for all the details.

This manifold actually is more about basic tools and skills of my buddy with that yellow glove
No special tools or materials were used for making this manifold, only time, patience and guidelines of Corky Bell and RETed

More pictures to follow soon...

What a great looking car. It speaks volumes just sitting there. Has it been discussed in previous threads? Is that the stock radiator shroud?

Is that a yellow glove a doom I see you wearing through the hatch glass?
