That would match up with the non-pumping of the pedal requirement, which if not followed would dump more gas in with each pump of the pedal.
thats only on carburetted cars, the accelerator pump would then be pumpung the fuel in over and over.

Sorry, been out of this thread, I see I missed a lot..
I don't know why or how it worked. I've never looked at how the ECU works. All I can tell you is that I myself managed to get my S4 started at least 5 different occasions, after flooding (strong gas smell) by holding the throttle open and cranking. It took a while, but it worked.

Sniper X: I agree that pumping the pedal with no RPM will do nothing. However, during cranking it may actually increase duty cycle on the injectors, even on an S4 car, if the ECU decided that pedal movement during cranking = prime the system. It's a feature that could cause problems that agrevate the flooded start, not help it. IMO, The proper method for the WOT start would be to drop the pedal to the floor and then key-on and crank.
