Again, I want LEDs to work... they just don't.

I even have a LED array for the 3rd brake light that I ahve been trying to make so I can sell it at my webstore... and that is using thirty 10kMCD bulbs... still not enough light comparied to a single conventional 1156 bulb

Yeah.. i meant to say with a VERY high light output... most of the superbrights i use for projects have a relatively small direct viewing angle..

You were DIRECTLY behind the car weren't you.... what did they look like if you stepped a few degrees off center???? I have no doubt that the leds were brighter at 1000 ft if you were directly in line with them

its because the lense is to thick and the LED's have to be right up againts the lense... i've been trying this too... Was thinking about drilling half way through the lense and glueing them there.... Make sure your using the same color LED as the lense... it makes a HUGE difference

I wonder how LED traffic lights pull it off then, cause I assure you that they are brighter then standard bulbs.

We're talking about side markers here... I stepped off center and could CLEARLY see them just as bright as striaght on... this is what light defusers are for

Traffic lights (and for that matter vehicles) that use them effectivly use fixtures dedicated to LED arrays and cost big $ (around $275-$500 per array). They are designed not to have reflective output.

They are not retrofited existing reflective incandescent fixtures for under $100.

And I have never seen a LED traffic light array be brighter than an incandescent. They simply last longer. In fact many traffic light LED arrays often wash out with direct sunlight on the lens.

And as a side bar, my voltage does not drop when my lights are turned on... if yours is, perhaps you need to look at replacing your alt.

But I am done with this subject. Again if you like them use them (LEDs). I don't consider them a safe replacement yet.

hmm... how bout using G35's brake light LED's? they seem to be effective, but probably expensive, i'm sure it's cheaper than traffic lights led tho.
