Anyone running the K2RD radiator? Can I have pics of your setup?

I am installing the K2RD radiator, and having some issues.

Obviously the battery needs relocating, or can I run a half size battery? Any other options? I really dont feel like relocating my battery, because then I have to run a cut-off switch to be NHRA legal.

And I am supposed to race tomorrow!!!!

ACK!!!

Thanks in advance,

Jarrett

Jarrett, relocating the battery legally is a pain. I'd definately go for the smaller batt, but I think you will need to trim your battery tray (??) or maybe rmove it entirely and fab up some sort of support. If you recall, I relocated my battery when I first got my FC. It went undetected at tech in SiR but it got caught at Firebird.
Good luck, dude. Are you racing anyone in particular?

No, I am not racing anyone in particular. A buddy is bringing his prepped S-10 with the 4.3l, and I wanted to race him for fun. The event is the Import Summer Nationals, and I kinda wanted to get some rotary representation out there.

There is NO way that I am going to relocate that damn battery, WAAAAAY too much hassle. Plus the voltage drops I would experience from all that wire! Forget it.

EXCELLENT!!! THANKS Scott!!!!

Wonder if the NHRA is going to flag me for a half size battery... I found a 3-cell Optima (for hondas) at Merle's. Might go ahead and purchase it and fab a bracket.

Relocated the battery - it's not that bad.

Unless you're going to run faster than 10.99, the track folks shouldn't flip out on the relocated battery.

Re-Ted's correct, if your running less than high 10's you'll be okay.....However. if you run auto-x, etc. you have to have that SOB strap'd down x 10 or you'll never pass tech..... Use a cubby and make a bracket...easy as pie!

NHRA rules are you need the kill switch in the back after moving the battery even if you are running 18's

under 10 or 11 you need a switch even if it's in the stock place.

Yes, you are correct - it's straight from the rulebook.&nbsp I'm not debating that.

In my experience, the techs don't give a rat's *** until you straight breaking 10.999's.&nbsp We've gotten away with all kinds of stupid stuff, but unless you run at a top NHRA track with uptight officials (i.e. Pomona), most of the tracks won't even blink.

I'm pretty sure they check at mine. I know they do. so I've never cared to go.

the first time I went (before moving battery) I ran with coolant though LOL. didn't check that.

Well, its not something I feel like chancing. I think the 3 cell Honda Optima battery might be just the ticket here.

most places, really won't wig out, if you're in the 12, and don't really care if you're in the 13's. Gainesville doesn't. They're NHRA.

Jarret, I already told you what the tracks are like down there.

He's not gonna chance it guys. No relocation.

Jarrett, you could also get two motorcycle batteries and wire them in parallel (bike batts are 12v, right?).

Well, I am going to Merle's in the AM to get the specs (dimensions) on the 3-Cell Optima. That and a custom fabbed battery tray might get me in there.

Only problem I am having is I cant find any info on this alleged 3-cell optima. Does it even exist?

I've never heard of it. Is it on the Optima website?
