Anyone rebuild their own engine and blown it??

I'm curious as to know if anyone has blown their engine by rebuilding it themselves. Like blown as in putting the engine rebuild kit together wrong. Not like overboosting, overheating, or anything like that.

I will attempt to rebuild my engine for next summer and with a mild streetport too. Thanks.

That's the exact same reason why I wouldn't build my own motor. I don't trust myself. And I can't afford the extended down-time and the cost.

It can be tough to assess wear properly, machine clearnces perfectly, and quite possible to pinch a coolant seal when building an engine.

Porting, as well, is usually best left to someone who has built lots of engines and knows how each porting style changes performance.

That being said, everyone has to have a first, and it is more than possible for anyone for can pull an engine to do a half-decent rebuild.

Thanks for the insight. Yeah, I may have someone else port it for me since he is pretty good with his dremel or send off the intermediate housings to someone.

I had my front oil pressure regulator fall out of the front cover - does that count?
