I have yet to remove a set of FTP lenses without the plastic surrounding the studs crumbling.. I am super careful with them, and even press them out with the studs, not the lens itself, and it still breaks. It seems like whenever you loosen that 8mm nut on the inside of the lens, it spins the whole stud a little bit, breaking all of the black plastic surrounding it. Anyone else experience this? This is the 3rd set Ive broken
I T-boned a Camaro and my FTP lenses fell out. I just have left them out.
But, yeah I know what you are talking about. I tried pulling mine out when I got the car and it was just a no-go because I started hearing crackling sounds from the plastic.

Hrmm no...
but, this one time I was braking pretty hard into this corner and one of mine just fell out!!!
then I subsequently ran over it...
I havn't bought any news one just yet, I kind of like the look with them out.

hehe nahh I did hit a brick wall in my old car though... was was nearly as funny as this.
Nahh stock brakes, just with some bendix ultimate pads in there....
Where the bolts go into the lens was all brittle and just crumbled... (I found that out after I went and picked up the pieces
)

no trouble with the FTP's, my new JDM's have ben out a couple time, no problems. HOWEVER, tail lights are a different story...a couple studs have popped out the back of each set I've taken off and put back on (S4 to S5, then S5 to my original S4's when I got hit, then BACK to S5 again but 2 sets, first one I got were junk (bad seals). I removed ALL studs from each tail light opn the new S5's I got (close to mint) over the summer, cleaned everything with prepsol and put 5 minute epoxy in each hole before I pressed the studs in (hammer)...I removed these tails a couple times since (used some dynamat to get rid of some lil vibrations) and they've stayed put. Just FYI
I lost mine because of rear ending someone.
I just went to a junk yard and grabbed them and put them in no problem. I even had to remove them from the scrap car myself.
You just have the headllights up and then twist your hand into the back with a 10mm socket or wrench.
Just ebcareful putting them back in. Don't over tighten it since they are plastic studs.
