Anyone mod an N/A hood for a TMIC?

I want to do my turbo swap over spring break but it seems that i overlooked one key thing. A turbo hood. Anyone ever cut a hole and mold in a rice scoop. Or maybe cut three side of a rectangle out and bent it up and fiberglass the sides. Before you flame this will only be temporary until i find one. And i have the steel N/A so its not like im cutting up a piece of gold or anything.
Thanx

This has been covered a few times mate...what most people do is just cut a hole for air to vent into the IC. also there is a right up on how to do a cowl (reverse-flow) setup on a stocker hood...

Id say keep the factory top mount IC BUT, just get some piping and make it a front mount.
You dont have to dish out for some fancy FM, but wont have to cut up your hood and will have better flow.
(The small stock IC will be very sneaky and barely noticeable up front)

The cowl is really for V-mounts... Honestly, you should just do a fmic setup. they can be done really cheap now adays thanx to ebay. Im almost finished wiht mine, which cost me all of $300. If your gonna spend all that time just hack up your hood for a tmic...why not keep ur hood and do a fmic...

Buying a hood scoop that will actually work and then painting it so it doesn't look like *** will not be free. Just cutting a hole won't do anything for intake cooling, and in fact may make things worse.

If you're going to all the effort of swapping engines you might as well get a FMIC at the same time, even if initially you just relocate the stock one to the front.

You can vent heat, but how do you cool that hot compressed air?
I really dont see much time or expense in routing up the stock IC to the front. any exh. shop should be able to help you with that for cheap.
Are you in some major rush? take the time and do it right.

I've seen some spacers for the hood where it hinges to make it cowl style for like $5 if you wanna do that. Just as long as you do something, my frined swapped an sr20det bluebird into his infinity g20 and refused to get a scoop or fmic, he has to turn it of at redlights cuz it overheats so bad with the ic jammed against and hood with nothing to breathe. So please........don't be like him

No it won't work. Why would it? There will be practically no airflow through the intercooler.
