Anyone made a bolt on trailer hitch?

For their FC ofcoarse I have a friend which has a hitch on his TII but its a welded on unit iirc and I don't like taking a torch to my baby. I was thinking of using the tow hook bolts and having a custom hitch made that could be removed in a matter of minutes maybe an hour. Something that could haul a small trailer for say some parts, a motorcycle, or a set of special rubber on the way to the track. Has anyone toyed with this? I am thiking of contacting one of the guys on here that knows how to weld and see how much he would think one could cost.

I'm researching plans for building a hitch. The ones I've looked at all bolt onto the frame- so with the FC it would have to be a little different. You might be able to build a hitch that bolts on where the rear tow-hooks are located. It would be pretty easy to fab up a hitch like that. If those hooks are used to support the weight of the car, then they should be enough to pull 1000lbs...

I have a hitch from an old partscar I got earlier this year. They used it to haul a jetski with, evidently. You remove the rear tow hooks, and it bolts on there...there is also an ear on each side that extends up to the side of the framerail, IIRC, and one or 2 bolts go onto that as well. Looks very well made, and should hold up as wel as any other auto hitch out there...as much as the *** of the car can handle. Surprisingly, a 7 will PULL just fine, and obviously we have enough brakes to stop. The only bad thing about the 7's is the lack of suspension strength for a significant load, and the light weight of the car makes it unstable under a load as well. Back in the day, I only had a 7, and when I bought other 7s for parts or repair, I'd just bring a friend and a chain, hook to the other car, and off we go. IF you think about it, the 7's have almost as much hp as many of the fullsize trucks out there (though lacking in torque) and the manual trans is not prone to failure from overheating like an automatic in a truck.

I was going to make one that bolted TO the rear tow hooks.. two bolts in each. Then I got a job and all my time disappeared...
