I don't see what the problem is. During hard braking, the firewall flexes. Even bleeding the brakes you can see it. This prevents that flex. True, you could make it yourself for a lot less then $75, but it's far from a useless product...

Well, on a street car it's pretty useless but at the track it makes a noticeable difference.

if you have enough grip to really feel the firewall flexing under hard braking then you probably are due for a complete upgraded master and calipers.

i stand by "useless product"

The firewall most definitely does flex under heavy braking. Think about the fact that it's basically a flat sheet with very little bracing. The brace has exactly the same effect as replacing rubber brake lines with SS ones (although I'm convinced that most of the benefit actually comes from replacing old lines with new ones). Removing any movement that doesn't directly act on the brakes improves bake feel.

I have one and noticed a small improvement under heavy braking, but like Aaron said the real benefits on the street are negligible. I cetainly wouldn't pay US$50 or whatever for one though, I picked mine up cheap off an imorted FC being dismantled.

I made one myself out of a small piece of 2" square steel tube, 2 short bolts, a long bolt and some nuts and washers. Cost me next to nothing. You can feel the difference for sure.
