anyone here drove with both 6 puck sprung and unsprung clutches?
I drove my friends TII today and it has a ACT 6 puck unsprung clutch and pressure plate. It was difficult to drive in town since I'm not use to slipping a clutch to take off from a stop sign or red light. Can anyone tell me how much of a difference there is between the 6 puck sprung clutch and the 6 puck unpsrung clutch? Whats the streetability and performance differences? I'm going to be putting a TII engine in my RX-7 when I get back from Iraq and I have everything in my garage but the clutch. Not sure what kind I want.
Thanks.
Thanks.
From what i've heard unsprung makes a fair difference in everyday streetable driving. I use a 4 puck sprung centered clutch and use it on the street just fine. That alone should be enough of a hint, consideringa 6 puck should be more streetable.
Of course, our definitions of streetable could differ!!

Yeah I'd like to know too, and I don't really want to go out and buy a sprung six puck. I had thought about "barrowing" someones 4 puck just for giggles to see what it was like. I mean it only takes about 1hr or so to take the tranny down with air tools

My sprung 6 puck has a pretty stock feel to it, it's a bit less 'play' than stock, meaning a bit less from when it begins to slip and move the car to where it's 100% engaged, and you'll be able to do it pretty smoothly from the start. Unsprung always seems to be a pretty edgy and jerking start, even when gradual.
