Everytime I see one of those auctions I wonder what junkyard they towed that heap out of to do the fittings/pictures on.

I have their coilovers and they're perfectly decent quality. One would assume the shifter is as well. Good quality for the price anyway.

Yea, the picture sorta turned me off. It's like people selling parts caked with oil and dirt. At least make it presentable.
Anyway, I thought I'd try it since it was cheap.
Very nice product. As with the Miata shifter, the ball end with the plastic cap (bottom part) needs to be grinded down about 2mm. The shifter has 2 parts. I used both and it's a really short shift. It comes with everything you need except one shifter bushing which you should have. Unstall is straight forward. The **** thread is S5 thread.

the shifter is great and very short but you have to sand or grind down the plastic piece that goes on the ball on the bottom side iof shifter so it will fit in the hole and shift freely not sticky

Talking

I also have the Miata Short Shifter from e-bay (Karak`s write up). As everyone has said you must sand the nylon bushing on the bottom but thats no big deal.
As for rattle, mine did at first but went away with a little time. Make sure you use both NEW shifter bushings.
My shifter was VERY tight at first. I removed the upper bushing spring and used a little grease on the whole pivot assembly to help out untill it had a chance to wear in.
I`m very happy with mine. I bought an aftermarket "universal" shift **** but did not like it in the long run so i picked up a factory S5 **** which fits perfectly. The other option is to fing a factory Miata ****, that would work equally as well.

THe link you gave in the original post was a shifter for a FB not an FC!!!

Check out this link. It has all the hardware except only one new bushing, be sure to get the second.

you know as oddly as this may be... i wanted to post my experience with it. i didnt buy the MK1, but the other simalarly priced one ($59).

the shift is extremely short, but its very sporty. install was very straight forward. it took me 15min to install the shifter. it sits reallly high up from the stock shifter. i took off that extension and just screwed my **** on to the stubby fat screw. it looks alot better that having that thing close to sunroof. lol

i have a question though, i could not get the plastic peice around the ball to fit down in the shifter. so i just took it off. it shifts fine without it. do you think i really need that plastic peice. the stock shifter did not have one. what do you guys think???

if you leave that extension (what the stock **** screws to) it will actually sit higher by about an inch or two. if you take it off and fit another **** or screw the existing **** on to it, it sits just a little bit shorter. i took that extension off, it felt like i was driving a school bus

Quick question guys....

I installed a Miata short shifter in my FC, and the only thing thats strange is that the whole shifter spins if you put a little extra pressure .... or grip it harder.
Did you guys have same experience with your Miata Shifters?
Other than that, it shifts great...
