Anyone have any good excuses for cops?

Haven't we ALL heard this
I am waiting for the day a cop says..."I know how fast you were going....did you think your pilot?"
Then I could hand him my commercial pilot certificate
Maybe one day.

My friend has a 200sx and was dring one day, if he was speeding it wanst much, but some cop pulled him over, flipped out and said how he was following him for 2 miles with the blues, then after that cop yelled at him for like 15 min another cop pulled up and accused him of escaping detainment, and it Was total BS
At that time, the sx didnt have a stero or its loud *** egsaust so he would of deffienetly hurd the cop
later that week he got a radar detector and was drivng to school and all of a sudden the blues came on, and the radar detector had never gone off, the cop asked him if he knew how fast he was going, and alex, the kid driving asked "no, Do you?" from there he said the cop just left, i know that story is kinda flaky, imnot 100% sure he's not bs'ing but it wouldnt suprise me,
The cops around here have been parking in the end of peoples driveways with all there lights / motor off (im pretty sure that the no lights at night thing is illigal around here)

Best thing to do....make at least one cop a good friend. He will tell you 100 things to ask in court to the accusing officer. Things like certifications on certain radar guns and all kinds of little things to get you off. Always call the court like 2 dayds before your trial and reshedule due to chances you can get the cop not to show up.
Cops generally have certain days that are trial days....always find this out and pick a day the cop isn't supposed to be there. You can end up wasting a few hours of their time if nothing else and its a good experience to see how the court is run.

Morbius is right. My friends have done this a couple times with high speeding tickets. Call the courthouse at the last possible minute, I think it is 48 hours notice, and reschedule. Then the cop will have to show up on a different day. IF they try to give you the same day of the week, it is because of the officer. Feed them a lame excuse how "Monday" is bad for you because of work and "Tuesday" is so much easier.
Obviously use whatever days are applicable, but you get the picture. That is the best way to get out of a ticket, it takes time and patience. But, hell, the insurance doesn't go up that way.

My track record with going to court is:
4 Wins
2 Loses
1 Reduction to 0 pts but still fined
Yes I have a shitty driving record but always be polite to the cop till you get in the courtroom. I am known around here now though as a pain in the *** as far as court goes and most cops won't mess with me because of the BS I make them go through to make it stick. Plus the prosecuting attorney just sighs when I walk in which is funny.

Naaa...the real thing to do, exspecially if you live within a rural area is to tell them that you were just swereving for an animal. Of course this is if you get pulled for reckless driving which is the only thing I have ever gotten pulled over for (7 times and no tickets). Just be like "damn did you see that dog? I swereved and I bet I still hit it." Than they are appted to be like "OH YEAH man I get that crap every day....one day I hit a dog with my front bumper and the damn thing just exploded on me!!!!!" Than they will proceed to talk to you for another 15 minutes and than just shake your hand, tell them nice to meet you and they will let you go and probably wave at you every time you guys pass each other. Well this happened to me, guess I can't say it will work for all of you.

This isnt really an excuse but a cop goes to church with a friend of mine and he said if you get a ticket (for whatever) pay if off by check and on the check mail an extra 5 bucks or something, something thats worth them sending back, not 50 cents, then they mail you the difference, if you dont cash that check, they will never close on that case and the info wont be sent to your insurance company, but the points will more than likly go on your licence, i havent tryed it yeat, i got an 87 doller ticket to pay off and dont have th emoney, ill tell ya if it works tho

Some cops will write you up no matter what. Most will cut you some slack if you: (1) Show common courtsey(2) Don't lie. After that, you can call the court and ask what are your options.

Seriously ... the best advice is to be honest and take responsibility for what you did. Cops will appreciate that you're not treating them like they were born yesterday. I did that on two occasions:
a) street racing on the second day that i got my license.
b) speeding in excess of 50km/h
Both of those should have revoked my license entirely.
I got off on the street racing thing with a temporary ticket for not having my insurance papers.
I got a $50 fine for speeding in excess of 15km/h as opposed to 50km/h just because i showed him common courtesy.
Best thing NOT to do... "here officer... hold my beer while i find my goddamn licence"

#1- Be honest. I've got a lot of friends that are cops in my area, and that's the one thing that pisses them all off the most.
#2- Be responsible. Speaks for its self.
#3- Tur on your dome light immeadatly. know it sounds kinda goofy, but that saves them from having to shine a light through your windows, and peering around through most stuff.

I was told that if you get pulled over for speeding, get them to tell you what they clocked you at (cause you have the right to know what kind of trouble you are in) and ask to see YOUR speed on the radar gun (yes you do have the right to see it). If it is not YOUR speed on there, they cannot write you the ticket and you will be on your way (provided they dont stick yah with something else while your at it).
After I told my dad aboot this, he managed to get pulled over a couple days later and he asked the ossiffer to see his speed on the gun. So they both went over to the cruiser and there it was, his speed. He ended up talking to the ossiffer for a lil bit and he showed my dad how it works and all. I dont remember whether my dad still got the ticket or not, but while he was showing him how it works, the ossiffer tagged a car (like 2km down the road) doing 95 in a 50! So he excused himself to go write up a big ticket
Another thing, I dont know if this one is true or not, but anyways. I heard that if the ossiffer is not wearing his hat then he is considered to be out of uniform and cannot write you a ticket or whatever. Like I said, dunno if this one is true...
AAAHHHH CRAP!!!!! the dog just came into my room and all over my carpet...

I know a guy who disputed a $460 speeding ticket and went to court on a day when the cop couldn't Judge asked him his case, and he didn't really have any, and the judge said: "I'm so sick of you guys coming in here and wasting the courts time."
And then he doubled the ticket amount.

I dunno guys. I live in a small town that has no buisiness....if you work in this town you are a cop or you own some sort of service to the public...or else you drive to the next town to work in the city. So we have ALOT of cops here in a very very small area...many times you will have 3 cops stop you in 3 different cars at the same time...Anyway....I've gotten 3 bogus tickets. Honesty never got me off, Respect never got me off, Nothing has ever gotten me off, I've decided next time a cop tries to pull me over....I'm leaving him....its a rural area, all I have to do is get out of sight once....I've paid over 1000 in tickets in the past 4 months (we dont have the points system) and refuse to get screwed over by some hillbilly anymore. My chances are better by running. I will go to jail before I pay anymore to this crooked system.

Funny this came up now. I got pulled over last night doing 75 in a 35 while I was checking the boost pressure gauge out (I really was doing that). I did NOT get a ticket.
1.) I did not try to run even though I was around a curve before he could get his car turned around on the winding country road.
2.) I was very respectful to him.
3.) I still had the greasy pants and shirt on from working on the car and I told him exactly what I was doing.
4.) I was just lucky.
