anyone have 18's on theirs???

seems like 18in rims are scarce on these cars....is their a reason???.....and also i can tell by the little i have read in here, you guys dislike hondas, nissan, mitsu, etc.....why is it so damn easy to find nice cheap appearence prts for those and hella expensive for 7's...and if you do buy the parts, someone else has one that looks just like yours......i live in a honda dominated town, and i cant wait to get my 7 goin...oh yeah

If you have to put that much effort into making a bigger wheel fit, its not worth it on a performance car...

17's fit perfect, allow ~35-45 series sidewalls, and fill the fenders fine-

I was more talking about the "why is it so damn easy to find nice cheap appearence prts for those and hella expensive for 7's" part though.

there is no problems getting 18's to fit they fit perfect and fine...and seems like he's an anti-honda kinda guy. There is nothing wrong with hondas anyways, just the people who have the wrong idea about which models are the performance cars..

Larger rims usually mean heavier rims.
Heavier wheels just hurts acceleration and performance due to more unsprung weight.

Larger wheels USUALLY mean heavier rims...but you can still have light 18's...they won't be featherweight but they can be pretty damn light, lighter than 17's but they usually will cost more money because they will have to be forged to be that light.

Then let me give you the secondary point...

If you want to keep the total wheel & tire diameter the same, you'll need to go down on the aspect ratio.  Lowering the aspect ratio drops the sidewall height.  Thinner sidewalls mean harsher rider.  If they are thin enough, extreme suspension compression, hard cornering, or big pot holes can cause the sidewall to compress and gash the wheel lip itself.

i have a set of rims 18 in the front 19 in the rear that i'm going to try on my fc (when i get another)... i don't really care about weight of the rims too much, as they'll be my daily driver rims, and i'll more than likely have another set of rims/tires for tracking the car.

i've been running 18's for nearly a year now and have no problems with the fitment. the ride is quite harsh with low profiles but not to harsh. i know what you mean ted about the unsprung weight thing, the car felt totally different after i put them on. my acceleration seemed a little slower and the whole car felt alot more rigid in general. i'm happy with the way it feels but if i were to buy a new set of wheels now i would go with 17s - sometimes i think the 18s just look a little to big. 17s would have been perfect.

Believe it or not, my 18's with tires weigh in at 45lb each, only 5lb heavier than the stock vert rims and tires at 40lb each. Stock s4 turbo rims and tires or NA 5 star wheels and tires weigh 44-46lb each...food for thought.

If you believe all the gossip you hear.. you are not off to a good start!
Mazda is not owned by ford! cause if it was mazda would also own ford... because ford owns a large amount of Mazda shares, Mazda also owns a large amount of Ford shares, thus they are invested in each other and are partners, neither own neither. They just co-operate!
Figured that needed clearing up!

Mazda is in fact owned by Ford.

In Japan, you only have to own over 30% of a company to be the majority owner, different than the 51% needed in the US, so no, Mazda doesn't own any of Ford.

After Ford bought Mazda, they axed every small town Mazda dealer within 120 miles of me (and there were plenty...)

BTW, I still haven't decided on 17"s or 18"s on my vert...

i hate the word "rice" because it has no meaning. you cant look it up (without finding something about food). there's no definate meaning. ..if there is one, someone please post it.
with that, what aftermarket wheel isnt rice? lighter and wider than stock is ideal, but what about height? also, what about tires? tires are further most from the center, so wouldnt they be the hardest to turn (due to mechanical advantage/disadvantage)?
in short, what is the "perfect" setup to you as far as wheel/tire?

Get 18", I would.
And how in the hell is a Honda fast? And I'm sorry but Ford sucks (new ones atleast). My father has a 2001 Lightning that has given him nothing but problems.

18" wheels are not rice, they are for show. You loose speed but who cares? It's your car.
18" painted wheels (red, green, blue) is rice. And if you have painted wheels on a RX-7... along with your Supra wing... *sigh*
Feel free to hang yourself.
