Anyone ever use tire chains on FC?

Just wondering if anyone has and how well they worked, or didn't work. Any problems that I may have in using some? I've tried my best to drive in snow with 205/55 Khumo ecsta supra 712's (or whatever they are) on lightly, to somewhat snow covered roads with verrrryy poor results. I don't want to spend a huge chunk of change on snow tires or extra wheels when I may only need them two or three times a year, so the chains seemed like a good idea. Any opinions? And no, I don't yet have a second vehicle, but may have one in the next couple weeks possibly.

I've used them on mine with good results. The ones I have aren't really "chains" they're more like steel ropes.
The part which goes over the tread is braided steel with small metal "teeth".
I went over Red Mountain Pass (11,000ft) in SW Colorado during heavy snow and never had a minute's worry.

Sorry I can't remember where I got them, but they weren't hard to find. I think it was Checker Auto or Pep Boys. Somewhere like that.

Good Luck!

Make sure you get the "limited clearance" type chains

2 GXL/other 5 bolt rims from your local junkyard = $20
2 used snow tires from your local used tire place = $20

not exactly a million bucks...

First point, can't find rims at junkyard, second point, no way I'm putting cheapo used tires(who knows what they've been through) on my car for any reason. I'm figuring $80 for 2 inexpensive all-seasons, $50 for rims(it's just this flipping area I guess ) and another $30 to mount, valve stem and balance them. And that still won't get me the traction of chains will it? I'm not trying to cut on you or anything, just telling you the way I see it.
