anyone ever order new door jam vin/info stickers?
hello, i just finished a complete restoration/paint job on my 87 TII, i had to remove the vin/info sticker and the tire info sticker from the door jam. id like to get new ones for it because i think it makes the car look complete. i searched for a long time for these stickers and i haven't had any luck, im not even sure if they make them anymore. also im assuming i'd have to special order the one sticker since it lists the car specific vin number on it..maybe they can get the stickers but they are a new design since i doubt any old stock stickers that would be 20 years old at this point would be laying around in a warehouse...any help will be greatly appreciated
if anything they would probably have to be remade by whoever makes mazdas parts. Stickers like that are special order as no dealership would ever stock those. Chances are they arent available at their PDC (parts distribution center) and would have to come from japan. They could also be on deleted status which means they arent made anymore. It would probably be easier to source the tire info sticker, but with the vin im not sure.
Call your local dealership and ask.

Almost all the warning/VIN/ emissions/ tire stickers are not available in North America.
Pretty much the only ones you can still get are the exterior model stickers (like the GTU or GXL or Turbo II stickers)

a good sign shop can make them for you no problem, you would just need a good photo and measurements from a original. They can print you a one piece decal.
I removed my tire info, but the VIN sticker I taped off, painted around it but only with one coat, then removed the tape and cleared over the sticker.
If anyone really needs one I can have my sign guy copy mine.

i was able to remove my sticker without ripping it but it has the tamper proof (stripes of white) that stayed on the jamb...i was thinking of just painting the back white and get some special glue to glue it back on..i called mazda and you cant get them anymore..so im screwed..
pant the back side white and use headliner glue to stick it on there.
I have used headliner glue for stickers before and it works really well (not door jam stickers, but others).

Or like duo2999 suggested, get a new decal made. You should be able to find a local place that makes custom vinyl decals for car windows and other applications. You still have the original which they could either scan or at least use as a template, so it should be possible. It might be a bit on the expensive side, but worth it if you really want a professional-looking result.
In AZ you can go to the Lv3 inspection team and they will check all the other locations of the VIN's and they can order you new VINS sicker and Plates (the one in the dash) At lease that's what they told me cause i lost the one in the dash. Haven't done it to confirm that yet.
i would think the custom vinyl sticker place wouldn't want to do it due to the fact that i could be asking them to make a sticker to put on a stolen car...right? thats why mazda made these stickers so you cant remove them without destroying them
a sign shop would charge less then $50, probably more like $30 to make this decal.
They do stuff for all kinds of restorations and odd jobs, im sure going down there with a registration or title would put thier mind at ease.

the sticker self destructs like that, prolly because its a D.O.T. law
you can buy them new, but they where discontinued like 5 years ago. that's what the guy at mazda told me. I work at a body shop and we have ordered many of these stickers for other cars. its a shame they discontinued the ones for the rx7..
there HAS to be sign shops, you just never looked for them, unless there are no businesses in your area and everyone puts up cardboard signs that they make themselves. You own or work in a bodyshop and never had to have custom decals made?
nope never had to get decals made... and if there was sign shops in my area im sure they arent around anymore.. the economy around my area is really really bad. everywhere you go there is places closed down. there are strip malls all over the area and they are empty! its ******* crazy.. ill do some more searching and try to find one somewhat close to me.
maybe you can scan it, or get someone to take a clean picture, crop it, photoshop your info onto it, and find someone online who is willing to print it for you with the exact measurements. Its a shot!
If they have swap meets around your area, theres always a vinyl guy in there who does ricer graphics lol

I made my own, its actually pretty easy, i pretty much copied the old stickers information and printed it on a sheet of uncut sticky paper used for name tags and stuff. Cut to size and laminated it. Then i pulled off the back end to have it stick to a clean surface pressed it down firmly with a warm cloth. Then i used some auto clear coat and lightly sprayed over the new door tag just to protect it little more from elements. Held up for 4+ years.

it would figure that after i decide to sell one of my cars that my son 3 years old riped the sticker off. now you can really tell the car was repainted. gah!! kids! lol
