I think that is a part of the louvers. Some of the escorts came with that it was so you could lift the louvers off the rear glass to clean it. I could be wrong about the FC though.

I'd actually be surprised if a piece of that nature could last 15 - 20 years in order for someone to still have one.

 

I met an older guy in Espanola Ontario with a mint '87, first owner, something like 27000 km on it. He had the louvers, and I do believe he also had the 'roof band'. Not very tasteful, in my opinion, but the car was friggin' amazing.

 

BNTha ressurection!!! i still want to see some pics of this crazy roof band ****. all the fc trustafarians that have every fc and fc part ever made need to post some pics of this i thought id seen all the factory fc parts till i saw this roofband ****.

 

i have the louvres but i've never seen a "roof band"

 

Aside from the pictures in this thread, I've never seen one either. It looks like it was an attempt to black out part of the B-pillar to make the hatch look larger and the pillar look lighter and thinner. Might work from a distance but I'll bet it looks pretty goofy up close.

I have the dealer option louvers on my 82. Not so sure if I'd like the on my FC's though
