Anybody Have A Battery Last 13+ years?
Purchased '89 TII new May, 1989. August 1993 (81,350 miles) I decided to replace the OE Mazda battery, not because of a problem, but thought it might be time after 4 years. Replaced it with a Sears DieHard, and now 13 years later (186,440 miles) that same battery is still in there and going strong.
One other side note. Had 1 headlight go out, but the rest of the bulbs still original.

I've been using the same battery on one of my cars for about 6 years now, I just have to recondition it every year or so. A far cry from your 13, but still not bad for a run-of-the-mill brand.

i've got a battery in my 86 firefly that looks pretty antiquated.
i'd be surprised if it wasn't as old as 13 years (it's struggling but still produces enough juice to fire the beast up)

9 years and still going strong on the Sears DieHard in my '71 MG Midget. And the car is used maybe 10-15 times per year, so the battery rarely gets charged by the alternator (and I never charge it using a charger) but it never fails to start the engine. They are amazing batteries.

Jesus H Christ! Where are you guys getting your batteries? I have never had a replacement battery even last through the warranty period. I now have my first vehicle from new and it is three years old so we will see how long it goes.

When I bought my 87 GXL in april, it had a battery that was put in around 2003. A few weeks after driving it around, that battery died. So I went to this local shop that deal especially in automotive batteries, and bought a reconditioned one for 20.00. Cranks alright and all,Hasn't failed me yet. Although voltage on it is shitty Lol.

If you let the battery live under normal operating conditions, it'll work for pretty damn long.
One DEEP cycle will usually kill it, especially after the first year.
I usually do something stupid, and I kill my batteries within the first 2 - 3 years.
Thank god for Costco batteries with 3 year 100% replacements!
