anybody ever use something beside the $60 downpipe gasket

im probably getting a garret turbo for the FC within the next couple months and im thinking the downpipe flange is going to be diffrent then our stock flange,the downpipe gasket i have now is shot and i dont really wanna spend 60 bux for a new gasket so i was wondering if anybody has done something that is a little cheaper, ive seen some header gasket maker at discount auto parts and im wondering if this silicone will with stand the heat from the turbine, i was checking to see if anybody has tried this stuff

thanx alot for any info

just use the factory one, don't waste your time with anything else.

the time it takes you to put on and take off a cheaper "solution" already makes it cost more.

time = money.

Personally I had both of the surfaces(DP and Turbo housing) machined flat and then just used a tiny bead of exhaust sealant. Never leaked at all.

Thats what I did anyway...

With the amount of heat thats involved I wouldn't go with anything else but the factory gasket.
