Any Tips on buying a fc?

I'm going to look at an imported fc1031 in the next couple of days. Is there anything I should watch out for?

Not sure what a FC1031 is.....however.


Do a www.carfax.com check and do a compression test.

If it's an s4 you should check the chlutch & brake master cylinder for leaks (feel underneath drivers side carpet, sometimes leaks through firewall), slave cylinder for age and leaks. When you take it for a ride leave the stereo off so that you can here for things like bad differential mounts and other bad suspension componants. Also check the boost lines and other rubber hoses for pliability(no hard as plastic) and to see if there are any leaks(fluid or air). Check boost pressure and vacume pressure if possible. I think that just about covers it.

In regards to brake master cylinder and clutch:
Was this a common problem with the s4 TII???

Is it just the entire clutch system or clutch components like the slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder???

Thats news to me. I thougt all secoond gen RX-7s were FC3s.

Big One the early fc3s(86-88) all had problems with thier hydraulic systems. It has something to do with the construction of the stock componants. Usually if you get a part that's not OEM it will solve the problem. Tokico sells some good stuff if you want to pay that much to stop or shift your car.

Mazda Australia lists the models as Fc 1031 for s4 and FC 1032 for s5. Figured it would be the same world over.

Hmm..Not that its a big point or anyting, but all FCs here are FC3s.
