Any Infini IV's in America?

Well if you have to ask what an Infini IV is, then you wouldn't know...

But for those who know, did those little crazy ***** trickle into the states? Coz I have a friend in Japan who CLAIMED to have a friend who has one, and it's stupidly fast. The craziest TII ever in stock trim, he said.

Any in America?

They shipped One over for a limited testing , only Road and track and Autoweek magazines got to see it before It was shipped back to Japan. So unless he has one that was directly imported from Japan, no..there is none here in America. And as for being "stupid fast".It really wasnt all THAT much better that a regular old T2. It had stiffer springs, a front strut bar, eliminated rear steer, slight weight reduction that came from lack of radio, and light seats and such. As far as performance.. 0-60 was in 7.0sec, 1/4 mile in 14.9@ 94mph. Definately something Id love to have though

I still lust for its wheels. 16" versions of the lightweight BBS wheels used on the convertible in all the pics I have seen. Never even seen a set of those stateside. I would assume, that you could have bought the larger rims direct from BBS and then used the vert's center cap, but no one ever tried that either, to my knowledge.

Didn't it delete AC, too?

Later,
James

uhm, wheren't they just the Series 5 Turbo II rims (16" 15lb mesh wheels, NOT BBS)

And they where pretty much a turbo version of the GTUs w/ more hp

they had 215hp, 4.3 rear end, no sunroof, no A/C, no power anything, no rear windshield wiper or squirter, stiffer springs, etc etc. I believe the hp increase was from a better flowing exhaust.
Basically a factory ready turbo race car.
And they only came in a greenish black color (had a hint of green, but mainly black)
They made 500, hooooooooooooooooooowever, according to RETed's chart they made many different infini's (III IV and at different years, so there may be thousands of FC Infini's)

Yo,

Nope, they weren't the TII/GTUs meshies, they were special 16" BBS mesh with the Infinity/Infiniti "Lazy Eight" centercaps.

The Infini IV is my favorite FC, other than the GTUs. *grin*

I love the extra bolsters on the doors and center panel so you could brace your legs against them in heavy G cornering. I think there might have even been a rally style foot rest for the passenger.

All in all, the Infini IV is the first car I'd have imported if I could do such a thing.

My 'vert came from Japan with the centre console leg brace. I wonder if it's an Infini one? Cool...

Someone has a set for sale...

Here is a link to someone selling the 16x7 BBS mazda wheels. The only difference that I can see is the "mazda" logo instead of the "lazy eight" also the Infini IV came standard with Pirelli P-Zero 205/55/16

According to the book "Mazda RX-7 Sports Car Color History" by John Matras (pub.1994) The Infini IV was an FC but all the others were not. In fact, the Infini I was a 323 built in 1987. Also stated are the 2700lb weight achieved by deleting the radio, A/C and body insulation and adding lighter, less adjustable seats. But unfortunately, It was never (nor could it ever be in it's true form) brought into the US due to emissions laws. It is certainly nice to dream though, huh?

btw: does anyone know if the FC actually appeared in the vin? According to everything I have read, the RX-7 label never appeared anywhere on the Infini.
