I bought an idiot surrond from an 88 rx7 and it fits great with the idiot indicator lens out, but doesn't line up with the idot indicater lens in? I have an 88 turbo 2 and bought the idiot surround from a guy on ebay that said it would fit an 88-91 rx7 all models? it fits in place, just not with the indicater lens in? any opinions?

no just the face on the s5 is different, but an easy fix. I have a s5 in mine. you have to buy the s5 surround too.

 

No that is incorrect.

The 88 through 91 are exactly the same. The 86-87 are different.

I don't know how many times I must post this. It is NOT a series thing!

It is a model year thing.

86-87 style:


88-91 style:


The 88 and later have a lip at the top to further sheild the idiot lights, and the angle of the clear glass on the idiot lights is the opposite direction of the pre 88 models.

I guess I need to add this to the FAQ for FC since I have posted this at least a dozen times.

another quick way to tell is the idiot lights themselves.

The 86 and 87 idiot lights look like this:



while the 88 and later look like this:



86-87=visible icons weither the light is on or not,

88 and later= black panel with visable icons only when the light is on.

 

i ran into that problem i just took the idiot cluster lense of and flipped it around and then it fit . you have to make a new hole for the clock switch thing . i just drilled a new hole and then your golden

 

or you could just get the plastic from the correct model year instead of drilling ghetto holes
