Any difference between GLX and T11 Rear

I'm looking at installing a limited differential in a V8 conversion in a 87. I'm looking for information, is there any real difference between the two, GLX or T11. I've found an 88 GLX with a complete rear sub frame, should I wait to find a T11? Are the brakes, sway bar misc. other things different.

Thanks

dont quote me on this but i think the TII comes with beefier sway...the brakes..as long as they're 5 lugs..it should be the same...rear diff should be the same as well..the diff u'd want is the unit from GTUs..with a 4.3 ratio

I beleive that the N/a(gxl, gtu, gtus, etc) diff is a 7" and the TII's have an 8" the half shafts are also bigger/better on the TII rear end. There are also two types of each LSD S4 and S5 S4's had a clutch type and S5's had a viscuss type.

The TII gears and halfshafts are significantly stronger; you'd need to use them for your setup. Even some of the N/a guys have problems keeping the N/A diffs together with hard launching; V8 torque would likely destroy it very quickly.

Santiago hit the nail on the head. Rear brakes on GXL/T2 are the same.... 5 lug with vented rotors and single piston calipers.

There are a few SBC guys with NOS running mid 9's@145mph with stock T2 rears/IRS.

The '86-88 S4 style is preferred since it is rebuildable IMO with a $50 clutch pack. T2 pumpkin won't accept n/a halfshafts. Pinion flange is unique also (where dshaft bolts up).

Good luck. Go to Torquecentral.com and check out the V8RX7 section for more V8 RX-7's.

If your runnin a v8, u need a Tll rear end and halfshafts, you'll snap a gxl real quick, like a toothpick.
