any diff between ecus

hello all i am curious if there is any difference between S4 and S5 Ecus. can they be interchanged basically i got a buddy that needs a new ecu and he s5 Na and i got a s4 ecu laying around so i wanted to know if it could work. lates matt22

Not interchangebale at all.

Not even wired the same.

The only ECUs that are interchangeable are the ones with the same first two numbers.

For example, a N326 could be swapped with a N327

Or a N332 could be swapped with a N333 or N338, but not a N350 or N326.

Or a N350 could be swapped with a N351, but not a N326.

geesh.. I need to catch up with all this info. I dont even know what ECU my car has (but yet I want to reprogram it????) LOL
