Question Another Tranny fluid Question ^^

so i tried to find mobile 1 synthetic at kragans and of course they didn't have it, but i called a local pep boys and they said that they carried mobile 1 synthetic gear oil, other than their atf which i believe is for automatic transmissions. So my long winded question is-- is gear oil the same as tranny fluid? and what ratio i.e. 75-80 or 80-85 should i purchase? Thanks guys for your input.

ATF(automatic transmission fluid) is different than gear oil. I have been using NEO Synthetic 75w-90HD in my gearbox(and diff) with good results.

I am using Lucas 80W-90 and that is some awesome stuff.

for the S4 TII rear end, I know it is a clutch type LSD. Do I need to add anything to the fluid when I switch it? I know you have to add something to the S5's viscous LSD but wasn't certain on the clutch type.

We're talking about fluid for your manual transmission, right?

Make sure the bottle explicitly states it's for MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS.

If this is the regular Mobil1 stuff, it is NOT for use in manual transmissions.

If you have a Kragens, they should carry the Royal Purple stuff?
The Checkers down here carries Royal Purple trans fluid.
