There are several really good writeups on the subject. I found two with a quick search:

Luckily, my roof is still working beautifully so I haven't attempted any of this stuff yet. Looks like a pretty big project. Good luck with yours.

I can add that if you want to get a lot of the old gunk out, a pressure washer and a cleaning product like Marine Clean or Simple Green really helps--after fully disassembling everything. Just be careful not to damage the foam and rubber gaskets.

Another tip. When cleaning the old grease out of the pieces with the screw cables, use a paper towel, soaked in brake cleaner. Attach one end of the cable to an electric drill. While tightly gripping the cork-screw cable in one hand, use the drill to run the paper towel up the cable. Do at least two passes. This will save a lot of time.

I wouldn't call disassembling and relubing the sunroof a big project--compared to reworking almost every major wiring harness in the car for an alarm system :-) --but it's time-consuming for the beginner.

Be sure to go slow, take your time, and keep track of all the parts. If you're a beginner, you can do the job within a day. If you've done it more than once, it would take mere hours.

As it's noted in the wiki (I originally wrote the procedure that's there, btw--someone copied it and didn't credit me for it), be sure to remove the end links first.
