Another Stupid Clock Question

OK so I was going to re-solder my clock today and noticed that there was a little 'burn' under the clocks cover. I figured the unit wasn't worth the effort and grabbed a spare that I had. Well that one has the same mark on it.

So I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the failure of the clock or if it is just a chip under the lense that heats up and discolors the plastic. I circled it because its really hard to see in the pict. It sits under some plastic so you wouldn't see it untill you disassemble the circut boards.

Any one else have a clock that WORKS and has this?

Nevermind. I was looking through the wireing diagram to figure out how to test it. When I noticed that it was on the cigar fuse. I figured that might be the problem. That damn thing is loose and cuts out whenever it damn well feels like it.

So i hooked up the 12v for the clock and ground and plugged the unit directly to my batt to test and viola 1:00 showed. its still dim but i will just resolder the sucker and go from there.

That damn cigar circut drives me nuts! i had my wideband hooked up and i flickerd on and off when ever. Of course its impossible to remove the fuse block to fix it. Oh well.
