Another strange noise at idle thread.. With video...

I uploaded the video on streetfire.net but it isn't up yet so ill explain whats going on. My car has started making two strange sounds. I think they are related. One is like a high speed ticking buzzing when the revs come down. It doesn'y matter if its in gea out out of gear. And also this terrible sounding knocking/backfiring at idle. Also sometimes when i start the car a get a little pop out of the exhaust. Any ideas what it could be. I have a video of the idle knocking noise.

a couple more things. It seems to do it more steadily when the car is fully warmed up. And the engine shakes sort of in sink with the knocking noise. Also you can feel it through the shifter. It only seems to do this during idle. Driving is normal no hesitation and very smooth. Doesn't seem like it's down on power. I though that maybe one of my rotors was blown. But a ghetto compresion test says it ok. Im goign for a real sometime this week. A friend has a testor.

Reminds me of my Camry beater. Fucked up valves.

Nice car too....damn.

lean the idle out and it will go away.

rich idles on rotaries bounce like that. i wouldnt worry about the knocking sound, it could be ANYTHING touching/clacking while the engine is moving around with the bad idle.

how is your timing? Sounds like it's bad timing to me.

edit: pop out of the exhaust when you turn it on would be runing rich.

if the knocking is still bad and you have sometime next week if you want I'll be stopping by my uncle's house, I'm sure you can come and he'll tell you what's wrong with it.

He's worked on rotaries for 30 years now. He rebuilt my engine, 3 times, and ported it ect. He's a shitload of TII's and one I almost shat myself in. if you want I can talk to him and let him know what's up ect. He lives in clifton btw.

Let me know.

no it doesn go away when you put the clutch in. it has to be engine related, either that or somthing near the begining of the exhaust. (near the mani.)

I'm clueless since I'm more of an fb guy . Carbed at that.....

ok im back. I was this close to selling the seven and starting a new project.
http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrow...der_id=1678243

Well anyway. I just took off from the turbo manifold all the back to the mufflers. Checked for cracks and reinstalled everything making sure all is tight. It is still making the above mentioned noise. Could this noise have anything to with the my mop that recently failed? i love my seven nothing else can even come close. I want it back to normal.
