Has anyone ever thought of this:
As you know, 99% of four-wheel drive trucks have transfer cases, which generally lowers your gear ratio (actually, multiplies it.)
So, if I were to equip my car with, (for simple mathematics sake) a 3.00 rear-end, and a transfer case with two settings... 1:1 and 1.5:1... I could tool around town all day on the 3.00, but when it's time to drag, I flip it to 1.5:1, effectively giving me a 4.50 final drive...

Not enough room under the car, I don't think... plus those Gear Vendors units cost more than most FCs are worth. For the same money you could just have two cars, one with deep gears for racing and one with tall gears for cruising.
