another fuel and spark problem
I have a 87 rx7 and im not getting any fuel or spark and the starter wount even turn over. When i tuen the key in the on position i get power but whan i go to crank it theres nothing. The battery is brand new. Ive tested the starter and it tested out good. can anyone help me with some siggestions on what it could be???
Stuck in the same position i am except I havent gotten to the point of where the engine can use spark or fuel. First things first. Check your fuses of course. Second, the starter requires voltage from the battery. Check the the battery wire going to the starter has no resistance with a multimeter. Second, on the S terminal on the starter, when you press down the clutch and turn the key to start, it should receive more than 8v. If your recieving less than this, more than likely, you have a problem with the wire that goes from the ignition switch to the interlock, to the starter cut relay.
Check for 12v when you turn the ignition at the interlock switch. If your recieve it before the switch and after, then your next step is to check at the starter cut relay.
Also check that your security system is not disabling the starter at the starter cut relay.

Do any lights work in the car at all? Say the headlights? No? Then it the Main relay.
Lights work but no starter? Then you lost the feed to the ignition switch. See if the single black wire with it's single connector is pulled apart just below the engine fuse box. About six inches down from the engine fuse box. Connected????? The go find the pigtails for the ignition switch below the ignition switch and pull apart the connector with a pure black and a black/white wire. See if the pure black wire has battery voltage on it.....or not. That wire feeds the ignition and starter circuit thru the switch.
