ANOTHER Damned TPS question!

I know there are ALOT of posts about TPS problems.

I went through a good number of them, before posting, so I'm not just REasking the same question...

I set my DMM to 200k (right?) and plugged up to the 12:00 pin (+ to DMM), and the 3:00 pin (- to DMM), and here's what I got:

@ Idle: 2.0

@ WOT: 5.9

Now..... These numbers mean WHAT, exactly? Change the damned thing? Un/f I gotta wait until THURSDAY, 6/16, to get one ($75, so not a HUGE deal), but I REALLY need one now... (Anyone REMOTELY close to Gainesville, Fl with one???)

I've seen a couple of posts that have remedy pictures for the T2.... What's the TPS adjustment on the 86 N/A???

Help.... Please?!?

sound more like the TPS is just out of adjustment, and probably not needing replacemet (unless there are flat spots between the two- or the TPS can not be adjusted for less than .9K

You mean, "flat spots" as though the TPS were sticking? I don't think that's the case, but will check again.

The damned Redneck that I bought it from thought it a good idea to paint the entire engine w/ BLACK SPRAYPAINT!!! Not even, "remove it and shoot it." More like, "Open the hood, and let 'er rip!"

The TPS adjustment screw (yes, I found it) is painted stuck. Kinda like a window that's painted shut (Ask any painter... That SUCKS.)

Hm.

AND, to top it all off, the secondary radiator cap (The one right before the thermo) has agasket that's leaking. So I undo the two 10 mils, and clean everything off.
As I'm tightening them back on, I TOTALLY decapitate one.

Of all the luck, huh?

Factory spec is supposed to be adjusted to 1k ohms at idle and at full throttle 4-6k ohms. Put the multimeter leads in the black and green wire and adjust until 1k ohms at idle when the car is warm.

Whne I say flat spots, I mean spots where the resistance falls or sticks.

The resistance should be linear, from lowest point to highest point, with no peaks or drops. sudden peaks or drops would be flat spots

You dont have to take out the TPS to adjust it. Just turn the screw.

Oh... Okay. Cool. Does it have to be running or can it just be on?

Can't start the car, at the moment... Gotta get that upper radiator cap's bolt out, and replaced.

Oh,well... Back to the DMM, then, Ja?

Here's the deal... I set the TPS w/ the car off.

Here're the specs:

1.1 kO @ Closed;
5.2 kO @ WOT

POOF! Starts right up.

Let in run for a sec and then SLOWLY rev it up to 4k...

Put-put-put, sputter-sputter <pass 4k> vrOOOOOM!

WTF!?!? Now, I can't get the ****** to turn over and hold idle for ****.

Now.....?
