How are you guys disintegrating the clutch disc?
Are you doing something really dumb while driving?
Or are you buying all that eBay crap?

I don't get it.
I've never seen a stock OEM clutch disc go to pieces unless abused.
I've never seen a quality, name-brand clutch disc go to pieces.
I've seen LOTS of crap, Made-In-Taiwan clutch disc fall apart.
You get what you pay for.

exedy is a good clutch...the act clutch discs are just exedy, as well as the oem disc and many aftermarket replacement kits.

IF it had been out of alignment, the trans would never have went into place to begin with. You couldnt have installed it if it were out of alignment.

This time, be sure to clean the trans spline shaft well, and lightly lube it with dry moly grease. A disc that binds on the shaft can result in the problem you had, as well as being worn more on one side than the other.

Either the forum is going crazy or i am going nuts. Because i swear you post this reply days ago but the post is dated with today's day. Any ways, i forgot to tell you that you will need a needle bearing extractor and a bearing installer. Well mostly the extractor since you can just use a socket to install the bearing, and you have to install it at least 5mm in the E-shaft. I install a clutch in my car and set the bearing too shallow. I ended up with a sezed bearing on christmas eve. Good luck!

Dude, a clutch setup has nothing to do with being on a rotary, a chevy 350, or a 65-1/2 mustang. They've worked pretty much the same for the last 75 years. Anyone that can work on and diagnose clutch problems on a "regular" car can do so on an rx-7 too.

Since you "claim" no one has answered your question, I'll quote my previous post:

exedy is a good clutch...the act clutch discs are just exedy, as well as the oem disc and many aftermarket replacement kits.
Probably 75% of stock/aftermarket stock type replacement/aftermarket performance replacement clutch kits use an exedy disc. Including the disc that came with the act SS kit that is in my FD and holding 450+rwhp. Perhaps you just got unlucky, perhaps you did have an install problem that tore the disc up, or perhaps the disc is not the problem. We can only help based on the info you've given, that that honestly hasn't been a whole lot, just a bunch of rambling and asking the same questions.

And no one was being rude, I was just responding to the comments you made. Nobody is being paid or rewarded for helping you, nobody owes you anything...your presence here does not automatically entitle you to free, knowledgeable tech help...so act like you appreciate it, instead of like you expect it. I didn't have people on the internet to spoon feed me when I learned nearly everything I know...I picked up a book and a wrench and after enough times of doing it, I figured out how it worked and how to fix it.

Ive read this entire section and it sounds like u never properly purged the clutch system. Or as in the case of my last fc and my friends 300 if you mess with the slave while it has pressure it will break if u put too much pressure they will break. Ive gone through three in hour and a half on my non turbo. saving the reciecpts helps when you deal with oreily. next time u mess with the tranny try this, unpurge the slave press in in really slowly. At ur own risk. do what you have to. when you go to put the slave back in leave it open and slowly purge until fluid fills the slave. close again and proceed to purge this should properly fill the system with correct pressure. Then you wont be trying to foce the gear in just tryn to move the car and f up a perfectly good and proven clutch disc
