Unhappy another audio question

ok... im having problems with my car stereo again. i am almost sure that everything is hooked up correctly. I just ran new wires directly to all my speakers to bypass tha factory amps and tha stereo still wont play any sound. The deck will light up and work correctly but still no sound. Before i ran new wires, it would play sound for a little while then cut off. Now with tha new wires, they wont play at all. Please help me! I got the stereo for a really good price and i would hate it if i have to take it back.

thanks in advance

Was the head unit a return or open box?
It sounds like the finals (output amps) are dead.

Will it drive a seperate amp from the pre-outs?

The experts are probably on the Audio forum.

yeah, your best bet is to take a voltmeter and test out the voltage coming out of each channel if you're positive the wiring isn't the issue....you could've gotten a bunk stereo
