Amazing Stupid Newby Question

Hi all

I'm new to the RX-7 in general and am contemplating getting my first in a few days... As such I've been researching the cars, reading here and other sources to get a good grasp of if the RX-7 is the car for me.

However within this I've come upon a question that no amount of searching either here or elsewhere has been able to answer... and it's a stupid question.

What exactly does the s4 and s5 and so on mean. It's nowhere that I can find.

Now I've kinda guessed that an s4 is an 86-87 FC and the s5 is an 88-91 fc... but that's just a guess.

Anyone wanna enlighten the noob?

Read the FAQ...then read the Archives......then re-read the FAQ....then reread the archives...then post a new thread.

If you feel the question is not found in the archives or FAQ it si usually because the answer is not what YOU want to hear......but it is the CORRECT answer

S4 is 86-88 and the S5 is 89-91. The S4's had a 13B that made slightly less power, black plastic moldings, slightly different grille, different tail lights and interior was different. S5's looked more modern and less 80's sports carish. They had a 13B with 160hp, painted moldings, tailights had round lights instead of square, interior gauges were round instead of triangular and they came with different rims.

Thanks all

I'd read the FAQ and even gone looking for this particular thing but musta looked right over it.

Found it in the Abreviations section... now it all fits.

Thanks again for taking your ever so valuable internet time!
