Am I pushing the car too hard?
Am I pushing the car too hard?
Im starting to get worried after hearing about peoples motors suddenly dying without warning and think my driving might be getting me close to that point. I usually shift at about 4.5, 5k under normal driving in 1st and 2nd and shift earlier in the higher gears. I take the car out on the backroads every other day and give it a good push but nothing extreme. When racing I shift at 7k-7.5k. I always let the car warm up for a minute or two before driving and will maintain it to the best of my ability in the future. I also let the car cool down for about a minute after coming back from a hard drive. What do you guys think? With the 240, the KA motor was pretty much bullet proof and there was never really any reliability issues (except the valvetrain
..) but nothing major to worry about.

Actually, it sounds like you're driving fine... It's good for rotaries to take them up into higher RPMs...helps clean out those carbon deposits. Rotaries will actually tend to die sooner if they're always babied along at 3-4k shifts.
Letting the car warm up before pushing it is naturally smart, as is letting it cool down.
If you maintain it properly, I'd say you don't have much to worry about.

Yea its just that I have this fear after reading about all the failed rotary's before i got my FC and now that I actually have one I just dont wanna sit in the car one day, try cranking it, and nothing happen.
Now I just need to figure out whats causing this loss in power.
