Am I crazy for wanting 19" rims on my FC?

I am going to go ahead and buy a set of 18"x8" rims for the front and 19"x8.5" in the rear. Am I insane for trying to do this? I know the 18's will fit, but has anyone ever seen 19's on an FC here in the states? Oh, and the rims are Axis Super Mesh rims:

19's on a Z32.

Yes, you are insane.
It will look stupid and perform even worse.
17" all around are the way to go on an FC for looks, and they are still excellent for performance.

You'll have to really soften up your shocks to make it even remotely comfortable driving on the street with that short of a sidewall.

Cornering would be pretty fun with sticky enough tires and a properly tuned suspension.

It'll also take a lot of power to turn those as nearly all the weight is in the furthest point from the center of rotation.

18s are good, but i had them on my 86gxl for awhile, and the ride they gave was too harsh, even on a stock soft suspension, every little crack in the pavement felt like it was going to break the car, or my bones, or BOTH, and girls HATED it (although thats not what i had them for, and when they complained i told them the car wasnt for THEIR pleasure, it was for MINE! so shut up and ride in your ******* SATURN if this ones too rough). they were also HEAVY! i had Axis touring cups, and they were 23 lbs each TWENTY THREE POUNDS! took ALOT of effort to get them going from a stop, Yes the initial turn in with such thin sidewalls was nice, but pavement that's not GLASS smooth would make the 18's hop and chatter in a hard turn while on uneven surfaces, REALLY scary in the rain.
with cheap 16 inchers on now, i dont think it looks as good, but tires are WAY cheaper, (almost half the price) and the turn in isnt as crisp, but the grip is FAR better, and the lighter wheels make a VERY noticeable difference in acceleration, my car doesnt have to work as hard, on a side note, driving is also more pleasant from the smoother ride the 16's give.
I dont know what it is, but i think our cars werent meant to have 18's, 17's are perfect i think, and will be my next step.

so to sum up, 18's -ROUGH, HARD, EXPENSIVE, HEAVY!! and RROUUGHHH!

Oh yeah, if yoru car has GOBS of power, disregard the weight of the wheel, if NOT (as i s the case with most FC's) get a lighter smaller wheel, your car will thank you.

Yes youre crazy. get some 15s!!! smaller wheels will be all the rage soon!

even 17s are overkill but they look nice. 19s are insane and not efficient for anything but make sure you post some pics i wanna see what it looks like.

It's a style/fashon thing, but it kills your final drive ratio.
If you want to race - go to 15s.

23lbs isn't all that bad for 18s. The stock TII rims are heavier than that I believe.

Well, about 2 weeks ago, I put on some Enkei RS5's that I just bought. They are 18 x 7, and if anyone wants to cry about weight or about a rough ride, that's their problem. Sometimes, in addition to moving fast, you just gotta look good getting there.

These wheels are about 21.5 pounds, plus my Prada Spec-2's (215/40) weighs quite a bit, definitely a lot heavier than those 14" phone-dial wheels, but I definitely think it's worth it.

And when it comes to wheels, my motto is think about what would look good, and go one size bigger, b/c I would rather buy 18's or 19's and have them look too big than buy 17's and be pissed for going too small.

And to be honest, the only reason I dont want you to go with 19's is because then I'll realize how much better they look than my 18's

17s will definitely not look too small. Especially if the car is lowered a little bit.

Riceateria menu:
LED exhaust tips
19" rims for your FC
other abominations for your RE car

on the bright side, the wheel design itself is nice.

Whats the price on those rims and where are you getting them at? I would love to find some 17x8s like that.

I was talking to Driftfc3s. I like the look of those rims. Remind me of the Racing Hart C2s kinda.

If you will actually drive the car, then yes 19" would be a very bad idea. If you have a non-turbo, 16" or better yet 15" is the right size. Even 17" wheels are too big for a non-turbo car. There will be a noticeable deterioration in ride and steering and acceleration because of increased weight and the sidewall of the tire being too short. You need to run a 215/45 to run 17" and that side wall is too short for this car and suspension setup. Remember, this car was designed before tires like this existed.

I have 14 lb SSR Competiton wheels in 17"x7.5" with 215/45 tires and the car drives like crap compared to on the stock 15"x6" wheels even though the 17" set up is the same weight.

Plain and simple, we enjoy driving these cars and the non-turbos (at least) are more enjoyable on 15" wheels than on 17" wheels. I haven't tried 16", but I'd bet that is perfect considering you can't even get the best tires in the 15" size anymore.

On 19"s, you won't want to drive the car and on many roads you won't be able to at all!!! You could even crack the windshield and I'm only half joking.

keep in mind thats not just the rim size.but the size tires on the rims. ive got 17" axis kaisers on mine and have had tire sizes from 205/40/17 up to 235/45/17s.........tire size makes all the difference!
